My second example of the history of obtaining a seat on the Santa Barbara Superior Court Bench. Very little seems to have to do with the public and our election process!
My second example of the history of obtaining a seat on the Santa Barbara Superior Court Bench. Very little seems to have to do with the public and our election process!Hey everybody I did not mean to leave you hanging. I have been reviewing the Superior Court history as far as electing our Santa Barbara Superior Court Judges go and I made a time line from 1998 to present off the League of Women Voters web page. We currently show 21 Superior Court Judges but the lineage as to how they have obtained there Superior court seat is very confusing. In the 2002 June primary Judge Hall for example wins her six year terms an already seating Superior Court Judges in offices 1,3,4,5,6 an15 go uncontested for there next six year term. So in my mind those offices and the Judge that represents them will not come up on a ballot until 2008. Any how I am just trying to make a entry point an election data history for our Superior Court Judges, we only started with 19 seats and now have 21. Names like Superior Court James Brown or Clifford Anderson never appear on any election history. They both were appointed in 1998 same as Judge McLafferty. Now McLafferty does appear in the June o4 2004 ballot and was scheduled to be reelected this past June 2010 before his death. Now in that same June of 04 primary 5 other Superior Court Judges are extended another six years ending this next January 1 2011 but where not present during this last June 2010 primary. So what does that mean? The only test that I can come up with that may clear things up is this; which Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judges would we the voting public be able to put through a recall process and how can we be sure? Let me ask another question; of all the Judges listed from 1998 to present how many can you remember either voting for or even seeing on any election ballot? The defense rest! Yeah I am scared as hell but this is no way to live!
You might notice the stark differences between my earlier example from SBVOTE web page and this one here, why is that? How many different ways can you you record an election? Nobody is being held accountable. An I am the first to say I am confused, the question is are you too?
